Online Art Gallery
I am so thrilled that you've taken a wonder into our shop! What you need to know about our products: All of the paper and fibre used by am paperarts in the paper products and artworks is sustainably produced, ethically made and one of a kind. We may use the same design concept over again, but all being hand made your piece will never be the same as another! All of my work - artwork, jewellery and products use the following; Curtin Springs Paper - handmade paper from the native grasses that grow in Central Australia. An old abattoir has been converted into a paper mill, reusing and re-purposing stuff from 'down behind the shed' to make all the paper-making equipment. Water is pumped and managed onsite, power is solar and the grasses are hand cut from the landscape, before being made into paper, and paper products. Blue Cat Paper - handmade cotton rag paper from India. I had the absolute honour and pleasure of working with them during my residency in Bangalore India in early 2019, and am looking forward to a return trip. The cotton rag is waste collected from the fashion houses which is processed and turned into the most incredible paper. They have their own water treatment plant, use natural dyes, employ local people, pay above award wages and have completely transformed an entire pocket of the city with their enterprise. I am so thrilled to be able to continue my relationship with them from across the sea and continue to support their processes and new products. Handmade Paper from my home studio in Central West NSW. Made from wheat (that would otherwise have been discarded from where it had collected on the front of the header), sorghum and other cereal crops we grow. Stay tuned to see how it goes!
Alpaca Fibre from my babies on our farm. We currently have 120 alpacas in various colours with huge personalities. We shear them in November and I use the wool from shearing to create the products you see. Alpacas (like sheep) must be shorn every year to keep them happy and healthy. They aren't harmed in the process. It's also the time for mani-pedi's and teeth checks, they love it!
