The hero and focal point of my artisan jewellery is hand made paper.
The Process: Hand cutting and collecting native grasses that are processed and turned into hand made paper. I then cut, tare, strip, fold, roll and twist the paper into beads and other shapes. The paper is sealed to protect it and give it a water resistance, making the paper components hardy and durable. I use silk, cottons, twine, leather, wood, stone and metals to put together pieces of jewellery that are completely individual and one off. Each piece of paper is one of a kind which means there will never be two beads the same or two pieces of jewellery that are exactly the same. I love that it is a way for people to take home a piece of the amazing Australian landscape and remember and connect with it each time they put their piece of jewellery on.
Some of my hand made artisan jewellery is currently available at Curtin Springs
